SOME of the games you can play with the Linguacious™POSTERS
(games may require some previous learning of the words)
You will find here some of the fun games you can play with the Linguacious™ posters. This is by no means an exhaustive list. In fact, there are possibly dozens of other games that can be played with the posters to encourage vocabulary learning. Although these should be enough to get you and your classroom started, please do send us an email (use our Contact Form) if you come up with a great game not listed here or have suggestions!

Spot the Right Image
Game 1: Spot the right image!
(this one is for learning the words on the posters and creating phonetic awareness)
This game should be used for languages that use the Roman alphabet only (such as English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, etc).
If the teacher/adult speaks the language, he or she may pronounce the words. Otherwise, the audio for each of the poster images can be found on this website, under "Our Flashcards and Posters" and can be played from a cellphone during the game.
Playing the game:
While children look at the poster(s), the teacher chooses one word at a time to pronounce or play. Children must either point at, touch, or use their first language (L1) to indicate which animal on the posters they believe the pronunciation referred to.
If the teacher is feeling extra brave, he or she may want to have a race, where students line up against a wall in the back and must run and touch the right word. Whoever touches the right word first gets a point. Teacher decides up to how many points the game will be played.
Game 2 - Spelling Battle!
For children who can already write in their first language and have learned the names for the images on the poster
Version 1 ( spelling + passive word knowledge)
Kids have their backs to the poster and have a piece of paper in which they can write. Teacher pronounces or plays (QR code scan or website) the name for one of the images on the poster, in the second or foreign language (L2). Children must try to spell the name for that image in the target language. Once all kids are ready with their answers, they can show their answers to the teacher or double-check them on the poster. Teacher may want to award points for correct answers and have those children who got it wrong rewrite that specific word. Teacher decides how many words the game will involve.
Version 2 (spelling + active word knowledge; somewhat harder)
Kids have their backs to the poster and have a piece of paper in which they can write. Teacher pronounces the name for one of the images on the poster, in the children's first (L1, or main language). Children must try to remember the correct word in the second/foreign language (L2) and then spell it correctly. Once all kids are ready with their answers, they can show their answers to the teacher or double-check them on the poster. Teacher may want to award points for correct answers and have those children who got it wrong rewrite that specific word. Teacher decides how many words the game will involve.
